KŌKUA: Support Native Hawaiian Education
When it comes to education, many people believe that one size does not fit all. That is why some schools are beginning to implement Native Hawaiian cultural based curriculum. This type of curriculum focuses on the unique history, culture, and values of Native Hawaiians.
One reason why this type of curriculum is important is because it can help Native Hawaiian students feel more connected to their culture and heritage. Additionally, it can also help them learn about the unique aspects of their culture that make it different from other cultures.
Another reason why this type of curriculum is beneficial is because it can help students learn about the importance of preserving and protecting the environment. In Hawaii, there is a strong emphasis on stewardship and taking care of the land. By teaching students about these values, they can become more responsible citizens.
